Blade MonolithEncounter The Monoliths are some of Blade II Monolith Yves' earliest works. They are made of concrete and some form of

gas light source; typically, neon or flourescents. When the light source is turned on, the light escapes through cracks in the concrete. One particularly interesting Monolith features depictions of Yves' face. Some depictions were drawn by Yves as self-portraits; others are Yves re-interpretations of other artists' drawings of him. He says that they are "...viewed by the eyes of someone else and redigested".

Beacons

The Beacons are all sculptures made out of television sets. One (left) features a TV watching itself and "self-reflecting". Another (center) depicts a TV imprisoned on a crucifix. Yet another pair of Beacons (right) feature

tiny TVs mounted atop large, tall pedestals. The irony is intentional; it represents Yves' view of the "dogma of television versus life".

RoboHand

Page Three

RoboHand Animation Frame The RoboHand, a work that existed only on the drawing board, represents an attempt by Yves to design a hydraulic piston in a rotary--as opposed to the traditional cylindrical--format. The advantages to this format would be a small, compact size and a great amount of motion and flexibility. The RoboHand, if built, would weigh very little. This image represents a simulation of the RoboHand's motion.
